June 23, 2011 – At their Executive Summit in Grapevine, Texas last week, Utilities Service Alliance presented United Through Reading, CEO, Sally Ann Zoll with a donation of $20,000 to support their Military Program.

Utilities Service Alliance (USA) is a not-for-profit cooperative designed to facilitate collaboration among its member utilities. Together, they work to reduce operating and maintenance costs, improve safety and performance, and provide innovation and leadership within the nuclear power industry.

Each year, the USA makes a substantial donation to one charity from proceeds from a fantastic concert during their Executive Summit week. United Through Reading was honored to be their honoree for 2011.

United Through Reading

United Through Reading®, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, helps to ease the fear, uncertainty and anxiety felt by children in military families by enabling deployed parents around the world to share their love and support by reading storybooks aloud on DVD. Today, service members can read from more than 260 recording locations worldwide, 70 participating USOs, and at individual commands or units deployed around the globe. More than 325,000 beneficiaries are served each year.

All deployed service members are provided the opportunity to participate as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, mentors and role models for children in classrooms.

United Through Reading has served more than one million beneficiaries over 22 years in the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps with major in-roads in the Air Force and Coast Guard being developed.
